Cold & flu
Cold & flu relief that works
Runny noses, sore throats, body aches, and fatigue can quickly disrupt your daily life when you’re hit with a cold or the flu. At Hastings Medical Clinic, we provide timely evaluation and care to help you feel better fast and avoid unnecessary complications. The flu tends to come on suddenly with more severe symptoms, while the common cold develops gradually and is usually milder. We differentiate between the two with a thorough exam and, when needed, rapid flu or COVID tests. Treatment options may include antiviral medications, symptom relief plans, and personalized recommendations to support your recovery at home or work.
Feel Better Faster with Compassionate Cold & Flu Care
When you visit Hastings Medical Clinic with cold or flu symptoms, we begin with a detailed health history and physical exam. If your symptoms suggest influenza or COVID, we may perform a rapid test to confirm the diagnosis. For flu cases caught early, antiviral medications can shorten the illness and reduce severity. For both cold and flu, we recommend treatments that ease symptoms—such as fever reducers, cough suppressants, decongestants, and hydration strategies. We also guide you on when to rest, when to return to work or school, and how to prevent spreading illness to others.

Prompt treatment helps shorten recovery time, reduce symptom severity, and prevent complications while providing reassurance and support when you're feeling your worst.

Colds develop slowly and cause milder symptoms like runny nose and congestion. The flu comes on suddenly with high fever, body aches, and fatigue. We can help diagnose accurately.
No—both are typically caused by viruses, not bacteria. Antibiotics won’t help unless you develop a secondary bacterial infection, which we monitor for.
If you have a high fever, severe fatigue, difficulty breathing, or symptoms lasting longer than 7–10 days, it’s a good idea to come in for an evaluation.
Rest, stay hydrated, use over-the-counter meds as advised, and monitor your symptoms. We can guide you on exactly what to take and when.
